The client is a market leader in fire safety, fire protection, risk control and the control and management of crisis incidents. Their main customers and contracts are with Network Rail, Metronet, London Underground, and The Houses of Parliament.
The requirement and the solution
Our client supplies fire monitoring panels to businesses and government organisations across the World. These panels can be updated on site via an engineer and linked to fire alarms to assist evacuations of buildings and large sites. To reduce costs and save time our client was looking for a remote monitoring link to their fire alarm systems starting with 12 main master panels. The solution was to link our cellular router to the fire panel and add a camera which provided a visual solution along with the ability to shut down the system and make amendments. Our cellular partner Vianet provided the 3G SIMMs and VPN solution for security without going via the internet.
The installation was fast and efficient, taking our engineers less than one day to install, connect and configure the router to fire panels from manufacturers such as Morley. The panels which have 232/485/422 outputs are used to connect to the router and poll data out saving both time and money

Over the past six months our client has seen an increase in business and now has engineers available to install new solutions promptly, giving their customer the peace of mind that they will not have to continuously visit the site in the future.
This in turn has opened up other opportunities and will allow our client to expand their business in the security market by installing our digital video recorders to monitor a number of cameras on site in order to detect and prevent major fires. With new software technology we are now able to monitor areas and detect movement and heat.
This project was the result of lengthy discussions with our sales and application team. Amplicon and the client ensured that the correct solution due to the mission criticality of each install. The flexibility and speed of response meant that the first system was delivered only 2 weeks after full testing had begun. It was Amplicon's 40 years of engineering experience and long-standing relationship with the client that enabled us to support this project to a successful conclusion.
