Industrial Ethernet Media converters seamlessly convert between fibre optic Ethernet and copper Ethernet connections. They are used to transmit Ethernet data over long distances by converting the Ethernet transmission medium from electrical signal over copper wire to a light signal over Fibre optic cable.
Amplicon supplies a broad range of copper to fibre converters providing seamless integration of copper and fiber network cabling to extend network distances. Our range supports 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1000Mbps/1Gbps Ethernet as well as a variety of network protocols.
Using fibre optic communications provides 3 key benefits:
1) Distance: Copper Ethernet is limited to 100m range. Fibre-optic links can extend up to 120km!
2) Noise immunity: Ethernet communications can be disrupted in electrically noisy environments if standard Cat 5 / Cat 6 cabling is used. Fibre based communications are unaffected by electrical noise and as such are a much better choice for industrial installations.
3) Security: Unlike a copper cable there is no radiated signal outside a fibre optic link. For this reason, fibre is sometimes used to prevent security breaches in military and other sensitive applications.
Below you can find a complete range of 10/100/1000baseT Copper twister pair cabling to Ethernet fibre 10/100/1000baseFX solutions.
Amplicon also supply a 10Base2 to 10BaseT converter for connecting legacy co-axial based systems to twisted pair networks.
