When installing powered devices, you may encounter power devices that exceed the PoE standard. SmartPoE provides intelligent forced powering, power diagnostics and power management functions to maximise compatibility with a diverse selection of power devices, simplifying configuration and reducing the amount of effort required for troubleshooting and maintenance.

To optimise system reliability and economise on the system power burden, the Moxa PoE industrial Ethernet switches provide smart power management, including:

High Power PoE+ Standard

PoE timetabling:
Powered devices used for industrial applications typically do not need to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The PoE timetabling function provides a PoE timetabling mechanism to let users set a flexible working schedule for each PoE port to reduce the system power burden.

Power output threshold cut-off:
When the combined power consumption of all of your powered devices exceeds the threshold of total PoE power output, the PoE switches will automatically cut off power to powered devices to protect the system. The system operator can configure the threshold of total power output from 30 to 240 watts.

PoE warning event:
Moxa PoE switches send system administrators real-time messages to report the status of the powered devices almost instantaneously when exceptions occur. The PoE Ethernet switches support different methods for warning engineers automatically, such as SNMP trap, email and relay output. Two digital inputs are also available to integrate sensors into your system to automate alarms using email and relay outputs.
