Answer

Q. How can I test a NE-4000?
A.

Once the NE4000 is connected up and the software installed, run the Network Enabler Configurator and click on 'Broadcast Search'. Highlight the device and enter the configuration by clicking the 'Go to Web Console' button followed by the 'Submit' button.

Select the 'Serial Settings' menu and make a note of the following parameters, changing them as necessary:

Baud Rate

Parity

Data Bits

Stop bit

Flow Control

Then select the 'Operation Mode' menu and make a note of the 'TCP Port' number, again changing it if necessary.

At this stage, select the 'Reset' menu option to restart the module to activate any changes made to the module.

Connect the serial port of the module to a serial port of a computer using a null-modem connection and open a terminal emulator, connecting to the PC's COM port and configured with the settings for Baud Rate, Data Bits, etc as noted above.

Then open a TCP Client program such as Telnet or Hyperterminal using the TCP Port number noted above.

Now, a transparent link between the two programs will have been established and data can be transmitted from one program to the other.
