Advertisement with Digital Signage Grabs Commuters’ Attention
For over 25 years, Enseicom, the outdoor furniture fabrication company, has provided street furniture and signage programs across North America. To enhance the visibility of brand awareness and services, Enseicom wanted to offer moving video or animated images of their various services at bus shelters. Enseicom’s target audience was commuters, who are always looking for distraction to kill time while waiting for their bus.
Systems Requirements and solution
An Interesting interactive outdoor display would attract their attention to newly released products, advertisements and promotion messages. At each bus shelter, commuters could easily access the service and product information from interactive touch screen at their own discretion and at their own pace. An interactive touch screen and media display were the basic requirements for playing video and animated images. High resolution display with video, still image, RSS feed or scrollable text were highly desirable. Slim size was required for placement behind the LCD panel. In short, Enseicom was looking for a high-performance yet hassle-free and cost-effective solution.
To meet these requirements, the Digital Signage System Integrator, iGotcha, provided a reliable and cost-effective solution through installation of the NDiS 161 platform. According to iGotcha, “The NDiS161 is a reliable solid state server, thus lower failure rates with small form factor, a rugged chassis and a reasonable price point. The tipping point is that it has enough processing power required for interactive flash applications.” With its revolutionary fan-less design, NDiS 161 has no rotary parts, no dust accumulation and no noise concerns during the operation. The low need of regular maintenance cost exceeded the company’s expectations. Moreover, the ultra-slim enclosure for NDiS 161 is a perfect fit to mount behind the panel screen. Integrated with Intel® Core™ Duo processor, the NDiS 161 supports multi-media format and high-resolution (up to 1920 x 1080) performance with multi-segment display capability. Video loops and custom images varying from one to several minutes in length show new product announcements and promotions. The interactive display itself was not only an advertisement but also a “silent salesman” at each bus shelter.
