2DB is a software development and consultancy company based in the UK who specialise in products and software development for major organisations within the gaming and betting industries worldwide. 2DB implement software solutions using a variety of core skill sets and development languages stemming from Assembler and C++ through to more versatile technologies such as .Net and Java.

Amplicon approached 2DB in January 2008 with the knowledge that they were the market leader for bringing digital signage into the largest betting shop chains in the UK. Their software was already running in conjunction with a specialist graphics card on a commercial PC housing a 7 PCI slot motherboard, but system continuity and the need for 24/7 operation were proving to be difficult using the commercial pc option. 2DB began by doing a full evaluation of the Amplicon Impact-R 4014 industrial computer, this system was already being supplied successfully into other betting shop chains in the UK who were using the same graphics cards and the 2DB software.

2DB were working on a project for a large betting organisation who were in the process of opening approximately 80 shops in Madrid and the Basque Country in Spain. For this solution they required an industrial PC with a minimum of 7 PCI slots, the preferred motherboard for the solution was already chosen and already in Amplicon’s product range, this board was carefully selected in 2006 because of it’s long road mapped life and 7 un-bridged PCI slots. For this solution we delivered 80 machines with the DFI G7V600-B with 7 PCI slots, 1GB RAM and a 3.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor.

The combination of the Amplicon industrial PC, the specialist graphics cards and the 2DB software deliver information to the customers in the betting shops. Essentially a digital signage application. The screens show all the up and coming race information, odds for the horses, information about football matches, formula 1 race days, dog track races, in short they deliver every piece of essential information that the betting industrry requires to service its customers; it is essential that the whole system is able to perform consistently on a 24/7 basis, without this level of service there would be no betting industry!

2DB have been delighted with the build quality and above all the reliability of these machines. The customer in Spain has been able to manage the roll-out of their new shops and install the machines on schedule and within budget. To date they have completed more than 100 shops, each one now delivering information to 1000s of customers via this uniquely reliable digital signage solution.
