At Amplicon, we recognise the challenges faced by system integrators and OEMs operating in the rail sector with regards to railway compliance.
Many projects will require electronic systems to meet standards such as EN50155, EN50121-X, RIA 12 and for products to be approved by a specific authority such as the Network Rail PADS approval.
Most Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products do not have rail approvals and as such can cause a big headache for the integrator who has to achieve the required approvals themselves or enter into lengthy (and potentially costly) negotiations with a supplier to encourage them to undertake the testing.
Partnering with Amplicon helps rail integrators to mitigate these problems in a variety of ways:
1) Amplicon have rail approved products
Many of Amplicon’s Industrial Ethernet switches have EN50155, EN50121-4 or both approvals. It is now possible to buy a rail approved Industrial Ethernet switch for less than £100! Several other products in the range also have part or complete rail accreditations. A call to our technical sales team will help to provide more guidance in this area
2) Amplicon have an EMC test facility
Amplicon can use their pre-compliance test facility to show compliance to specific rail standards without the cost or risk of a full test at a UKAS accredited test house. Our EMC experts can provide guidance on the testing process and won’t just provide a pass / fail report with little other help. This process is regularly used by customers that want to use Amplicon’s rackmount and embedded Industrial PCs in rail systems.
3) Amplicon have a massive product portfolio
Amplicon manufacture and distribute products from companies around the world. We will typically have multiple suppliers with 10s of different models for each product line. This means that should an integrator decide that they must commit to acquiring rail approval for a specific product or system, Amplicon will have a very close match for the job.
4) Amplicon understands!
Many suppliers do not understand or cannot appreciate the complexity of the task facing rail integrators and OEMs. Amplicon’s technical sales team is backed by product managers and application engineers |
