Amplicon’s wireless offering is broken into ‘Wireless LAN’ systems that use the 802.11a/b/g bands for localised links (up to a few km) in the Wireless Access Points section and ‘Wireless WAN’ in the Cellular Routers section that use the mobile phone network and the internet to effectively provide global wireless communications.

Weather monitoring instrumentation allows information to be fed into an embedded computer housed locally. This can be transferred directly into a wireless router with the antennae mounted to give maximum coverage over the topside of the vessel. A matching receiver in the ships bridge can gather and utilise this data as part of it weather gauging systems.
