A variety of automation controllers are available for factory automation or process control applications, such as the ADAM-5550 Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) and the lower cost Programmable Controllers. The PAC is a multi-application platform with on-board processing, capable of data acquisition, real-time logic control, and motion control, with a Windows CE interface
The new ADAM-5550KW Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) is designed for measurement and control tasks that need an industrial computer's performance, and a PLC's high speed logical control.
The PAC uses a real-time operating system for on-board control using softlogic such as KW MultiProg or Straton software. Multiprog software provides industry standard programming languages such as ladder logic, instruction list and function block diagrams, so programmers can choose whichever language they prefer.
Windows CE allows you to run SCADA software such as Copadata Zenon or Wonderware (copyright) on-board, or you can connect to another HMI device via the LAN or USB ports, and the VGA output. The programmable automation controller uses a CompactFlash card instead of a hard disk, and requires no fans, so reliability is much improved over a traditional computer. The 8-slot PAC allows you to choose from the familiar range of ADAM analog and digital I/O modules.
