Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) is now available on many of our PC products. Supported systems typically exceed the recommended minimum hardware requirements and are fully supported by drivers.
Windows 7 is rich in features, but also offers the much needed stability demanded by industrial users. It is also the first Microsoft operating system to include powerful native support from Solid State Drives (SSD).
At first glance, the appearance of Windows 7 is similar to Windows Vista. However, when you start using it you will be pleasantly surprised at how fluid and quickly it runs. Interestingly, if you compare the minimum hardware requirements between Windows Vista and 7 they are almost identical. However, Windows 7 was developed from the ground up with a simple aim to be much faster than Windows Vista.
Considerations
If you wish to use the 3D Aero desktop feature, we can recommend a suitable graphics card to compliment your system. Customers requiring Windows 7 64-bit should contact a member of our Industrial Computing Team to discuss a suitable hardware solution.
Windows XP availability
Amplicon is a Windows Embedded Partner and we are able to provide Windows XP SP3 up until 2016. Although this operating system has been discontinued from the desktop channel, it has been re-branded as Windows XP for Embedded Systems (or FeS) for industrial use.
